Two Layer Flower Cake
This cake was made using a butter recipe cake mix and buttercream icing. I used a 6″ round cake pan for both layers. On the top layer, I used a large flower cookie cutter to cut out the flower design. I covered the cake using a star tip and pink, orange and yellow tinted icing.
The butterfly is made of fondant (using a single, small butterfly cookie cutter) and covered with buttercream icing using a small star tip.
The antennae on the butterfly was made of melted, colored chocolate. I formed this by using a larger writing tip and forming them on parchment paper/foil and let them cool until hard. I then placed them in the icing on the head of the butterfly.
This was my granddaughters very own “dive in” cake to enjoy!
