Animal Cup Cakes

My Daughter’s first grade class had a field trip to the teachers ranch. It was a potluck event so I made these treats for the kids. It took me two days to make 4 dozen but I think they came out cute.

I used a box cake mix for the cupcakes. Then I started decorating. All of the cupcakes got the green (grass) first. I bought a star tip and just made heavy stars all over. (I figured it would use less icing that way).

The bodies were all made pretty much the same way. I just used a large round tip and squeezed until I had a blob of icing in the right shape.

The chicks: I piled the icing (one blob onto of the other). Then I made the little wings and top feathers by wiggling the bag a little and using a tip for leaves.

The Dogs ears are the same method as the chick’s wings.

The cat was difficult and was pretty much the same method.

The legs of the animals were just a smaller round tip and I just wiggled it as I squeezed.

The lamb I used a rounded tip that I think is usually used to make leaves and just made fluffy rounded looking piles all over. They were a little heavy and sank a little but their faces were cute and you could still tell what they were.

Then I used the smallest round tip to add the white and black for eyes and the orange for the chick feet.

All of the grass and animals are made with butter cream icing.

Great animals

Wow, I love your animals, they are so realistic.

Did the kids actually eat them or just want to take them home to keep?
