Boy’s First Birthday Cake

I didn’t know what kind of cake that I wanted to make and it was two days until his birthday, his first birthday! A normal cake just would not do.
My family and friends have a tradition of making the most creative cakes, so I had to think of something.
I mixed together an angel food cake with 3 eggs, 1 tablespoon of vanilla, 1 1/2 cups milk, and 1/2 cup softened butter for each round part of the cake. I mixed the batter together with an electric mixer until smooth and then poured it into the pans. I left about a cup out of each batch to use for the little parts.
I put the pans in the oven and let them cook for 50 minutes at 350 degrees. I molded the left over batter to the shape of the feet, ears, and arms on a cookie sheet and put them into the oven. It took me about three tries to get them right. It is crucial to check them a lot of they will be miss shaped.
When time was up, I pulled the cake out and allowed to cool. After about an hour I started the frosting. I used just regular icing that I found from Walmart. A white and a skin color is all that was needed. I iced the body and the head first, then the arms and feet. After that I added the diaper and applied the feet on top of that. The eyes were made of licorice that I cut to a circle. The hair and smile are also made out of black Twislers pull and peel licorice. The rosy cheeks are just harden icing candy. It was all almost done with that.
Next take the icing and roll it into ten gradually smaller balls and apply them as toes. The hands were the last and hardest touch. It is best to use a paring knife and then shape them after they are cut to size. Put them in place. The cake is finished!
