Strawberry Shortcake Birthday Cake

Strawberry Shortcake Birthday Cake

My daughter HAD to have a cake that looks like Strawberry Shortcake’s hat so here is what I did.

You will need:
medium sized oven safe glass bowl
pizza tray
strawberry flavored cake mix any brand
tube of chocolate chip cookie dough any brand
strawberry frosting any brand or white frosting and red food coloring
strawberry shaped gummy candies
red and green striped fruit by the foot
pink, green, white striped ribbon from craft store

1) Using the glass bowl as your baking pan prepare the cake according to box directions. This will be the top of your hat.

2) Spread cookie dough out into 1 giant cookie on pizza tray and bake according to package. This will be the brim of your hat.

3) When cake and cookie are just barely still warm trim a small bit of the flat end of the cake so it is level and invert in onto the center of the large cookie. If the ring around the cake is to wide you can trim around it with a knife.

4) Frost the cake and showing area of the cookie with the frosting.

5) Place the fruit by the foot around the base of the bowl shaped piece. Use the ribbon to make a bow and use a dot of frosting to secure it to the fruit by the foot. Then in the center of the bow using frosting as glue place a gummy strawberry.

6) Decorate the rest of the hat with gummy strawberries.

7) Chill to allow frosting to set
